Scholarships Offered by Outreach Alliance of Ventura County®:
The Dorothy and Al Stacey Scholarship has been made possible by a generous bequest from the Alvin B. Stacey Trust. It was Mr. Stacey’s wish that the money received would be used for a scholarship fund specifically to support college students who excel in the studies of science or engineering. He said that he was “interested in helping really bright students who may go on to do great things, who might actually make a difference in the world.” The Dorothy and Al Stacey Scholarship was established at California State University Channel Islands in 2021. The scholarship provides financial assistance to “really bright” students who major in science or engineering and have the potential to “make a difference in the world.” The scholarships are $5,000 and were first awarded to two students. In subsequent years, the number of awardees has gradually increased.
The Outreach Alliance Community Scholarship was established at California State University Channel Islands in 2025. Funded by Outreach Alliance, this new scholarship will be awarded to four entry level students who are current residents of Ventura County. These four students will receive $20,000 in $5,000 increments for a four-year period, contingent upon their maintaining satisfactory academic progress.
The OAVC Re-Entry Scholarship is administered through the Ventura College Foundation’s Phoenix Program. The scholarship, established in 2023, is funded by Outreach Alliance. Its purpose is to assist students who have experienced a hiatus in their education and are returning to college to continue their course of study or to seek a path to another career with the completion of a degree or certificate. The first $4,000 scholarship was awarded for the 2023-2024 academic year to a student whose goal was to become a Veterinary Technician. In a thank you letter she wrote, “By awarding me the Re-Entry Scholarship, you have lightened my financial burden which allows me to focus more on an essential aspect of school learning. Your generosity will also let me help others and their animals. I promise you I will work very hard to obtain my goal. Thank you again for your generous and thoughtful gift.” Since that time, the number of students to receive scholarships and the value of the scholarships has increased. For the 2025-2026 academic year, two students will receive $5,000 scholarships. Interested applicants are encouraged to apply through the Ventura College Foundation. “This scholarship is not only a financial gift to myself but to my parents as well. They are the reason for what I do. I am committed to making the most of this opportunity to grow as a future healthcare professional and hope to one day give back to others in the way that you have given to me. Thank you once again for your generosity and belief in students like myself.”
