At Outreach Alliance of Ventura County® (OAVC), we believe that real change begins at the local level — with neighbors helping neighbors. As a community-powered nonprofit, we are dedicated to supporting children, families, and individuals across Ventura County through compassionate, hands-on programs that address critical needs.
For decades, our volunteers, donors, and partners have worked together to provide essential services — from supplying students with the tools they need to succeed, to offering comfort during times of crisis, to supporting families facing unexpected challenges. Every initiative we lead is rooted in a simple promise: to uplift and empower those who need it most, right here at home.
Whether it’s a backpack filled with school supplies, a teddy bear offered to a child in distress, clothing for a family in crisis, or a scholarship opening doors to higher education, OAVC’s programs are designed to make an immediate and lasting impact.
As an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we ensure that 100% of donations and resources stay within Ventura County—strengthening our community, one act of kindness at a time.
Our Programs
At Outreach Alliance of Ventura County®, our programs are designed to meet the real needs of children, families, and individuals across our community. From providing essential resources and emergency assistance to supporting education, emotional well-being, and youth development, each initiative reflects our commitment to compassion, dignity, and lasting impact. Powered by volunteers, funded by local support, and guided by partnerships with schools, agencies, and first responders, our programs ensure that help is always close to home—where it’s needed most.
Supplies 4 Success (S4S)
Supplies 4 Success provides underserved students with school supplies, books, clothes and other resources required to succeed in school.
Care Closet
The Care Closet supplies necessities such as clothes and resource requests to children and families during times of emergency.
B.U.F.F.Y Bear
The B.U.F.F.Y. Bear Program provides comforting Teddy Bears to children experiencing traumatic events.
Scholarships
The Outreach Alliance Scholarships program supports students at Ventura College and California State University Channel Islands
Reading Club
The Reading Club promotes the love of reading to elementary school students in a safe and supportive environment.
Teens Helping Teens
The Teens Helping Teens program works to develop a team of teenage volunteers and community leaders through philanthropic and community service.
Nancy R. Brandt (NRB)
The Nancy R. Brandt program provides support to sexual assault victims through a partnership with Safe Harbor and the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office.

The mission of Ventura County Children and Family Service (VCCFS) and the Outreach Alliance of Ventura County® (OAVC) is similar, “Strengthen Ventura County Families.” Our partnership is the perfect match and VCCFS could not do our work without the support of OAVC. When I meet with families and I let them know the resources and gift cards that I can provide them (Gift cards are supplied by the Teens Helping Teens Program), their face lights up and they are very appreciative. Knowing that they can get some new clothes, socks or shoes just makes their day a little brighter. I see the parents’ faces and they are grateful and thankful knowing that they will be able to provide for their family through a gift card.
